I have a rented property with an open gas fire in one room which to the best of my belief was installed prior to 1998. The tenant wants to use this as a bedroom. The engineer who has just done the annual inspection says that this is against gas regulations. Do these regulations apply as the fire was installed before the 1998?

The tenant is also using a cooker with an internal LPG gas supply? Is it a requirement for this to have a certificate of conformance?
