EPCs and Smoke Detectors
We have just had a EPC done and have been told that we need to have smoke detectors that are connected to the lights. Is this correct or can we just have two manual ones as I was under the impression that as long as we had two it didnt matter?
Also I have been told that the first EPC is more expensive as they have to test all the system but I am not sure whether this is correct or whether the electrician is just after more cash.
He has also said that if my tenant stays in the property I do not have to have another certificate done for two years. I was under the impression that the gas and electric needed to be checked and certificates produced every year. Can you please clarify.
