I help manage a block with some other flat owners. We are disputing who the block insurance ,which the lease requires, is to benefit.
One flat had a small leak and the flat below is asking for 150 for ceiling repairs and 100 to repair the plumbing that leaked. I would consider it unwise to claim small amounts as I would expect the insurance costs to go up and up but the two flatowners want to claim. There is a 100 excess so it rather depends if the insurers add the two bills together or treat it as two claims.
My view is that the insurance is for the benefit of the freeholder of the block so small cliams like that should be sorted out between the flats involved. Any other views?
