Selling a Rented Property. As a landlord, you may at some stage wish to sell your rented property. If there are still tenants in the property (possibly under notice to quit), you might come across difficulties such as the tenants not wanting internal photographs taken showing their own furniture and possessions, and not wanting strangers poking round in the house in case they steal anything. I think you have got to put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself if you would like strangers going round YOUR property and photographs of YOUR goods displayed in an estate agentís window in the High Streer, for all to see! Regardless of what it might say in the contract, even though you may have given appropriate notice to the tenants before a prospective purchaser views, if the tenants refuse to let you round, you must observe their wishes. If you enter the property against their wishes, it will be regarded as harassment which is a criminal offence.
