Can I restrict payments to standing orders only?
I am about tolet my first property and have gathered quite a bit on info (much courtesy of RLA). I am setting up the AST and wondered if it is acceptable to include a clauses such as:
A. Rent and Deposit
1. The rent is £XXX every month.
2. The deposit is one months rent.
3. The first months rent and deposit must be paid by cheque or bank transfer and clear before the start of the rental period.
4. Subsequent rent must be paid by standing order to clear on or before a rent payment day.
Does this back me into a corner if they have to pay by cheque one month because something (?) goes wrong and that is what they need to do?
