Just a quick little jot as a management letting agent I am letting the landlord decide if he wants me to take a deposit or two months in advance getting that clear from the start of the tenancy, making sure tenant is happy with the situation either way and by doing things this way my head is clearer. I do not want to give any of the landlords details to the TDS without there authority due to data protection etc and the country being Big Brother (which is my real gripe) but I find some letting agents are gladly hanging on to the deposit paying 20 to the deposit scheme, charging the tenants upto 200 admin fee and not giving the landlord a choice - they are doing this for introduction only lets and therefore receiving interest on the deposits taken. Views on this appreciated. Just having a moan really.
