We are new landlords are about to get renovation work started on a house for rent. We expect this to be ready to let out in a couple of months time.

My question is, when would be the best time to advertise the property for rent? I know this seems a basic question but if we advertise too soon we wouldn't be in a position to show anyone round or at least it wouldn't be in a state for them to perhaps make a decision on.

Also, from everyone else's experience, is the letting process usually a lengthy one in terms of credit checks, sorting application forms and tenancy agreements such that we do need to get the ball rolling quite soon. I appreciate that this will depend on circumstances but a best/ worst case scenario would be very helpful to know.

Thanks
