Hi,

I have a new letting agent and he let one of my four properties that was empty.

He found the tenant within a week but he would not tell me the name and the address of the new tenant under the data protection act.

The Agent took the deposit and still would not let me know or send me her application details.

The tenant moved in as a lady with a girl but with her moved in a man over 18 with Dog.

I objected to the Agent that no Dogs allowed in the property and this man should be out but Agent turns around says they cannot stop this man moving in with the lady under data protection act or tenancy rules.

This does not sound good to me that a new tenant has been put into my property without prior information and approval from me. Is this how the Letting Agents work please?

This Data Protection Act seems to be very strong in favour of tenant.

It would be nice to hear from others and it seems that it better not to appoint any letting agent at all.
