Last week I checked out a tennant after 3 years stay. All passed off without hitch. Called at the property today to check all is OK and found posted throught the letter box a notice from water company (southern water)saying that they have changed the water stop cock in the street for a water meter.
Can they do this without owners concent?
I know they have the power to do it if the property has changed ownership but can they do it on change of tenant(name on the account)?
It's a two/three bed family house so not being on a meter maybe an advantage to the next tenant who is due in two weeks and I have told them that there is no water meter.

if it is the law and has to be then I will not argue. Can anyone advise?
