My local council have inspected my HMO (licence not needed) and written telling me to put in firedoors and closures, a seperate fire/smoke alarm system and an emergency lightening system. Am i legally obliged to do all of this or is it just 'best practice' ? It would turn a shared house into something akin to a cheap office block?
