Want to take my letting agent to court
In October, an estate agency called Field and May let out one of my appartments. As part of the service I paid for, they should have taken out references against the tenant.
In fact, it now transpires that they knew that the tenant was unemployed for the first few weeks of her time in the appartment. The letting agents DID see an offer of a job, but the job was paying LESS than the rent.
So, two months passed and I had to evict the tenant as she was running an 'escort agency' from the flat. The building manager forced the eviction as she was having five gentlemen callers a day.
I believe that the letting agents should have predicted this as she had to have an alternative source of income as her permenant employment would never have paid for the rent.
The letting agents have refused any form of cash refund and will only offer a partial credit.
Needless to say, she left without paying rent etc. and the deposit will not cover all of my losses.
Do you know a lawyer that might help with this?
