My agent has tried to renew a tenancy agreement with one of my tenants without my instructions to do so.

The only communication I had from the agent was a bill for a years commission, after the original tenancy agreement had expired, not even a copy of the new tenancy agreement for me to check and sign. In the meantime I have renewed the tenancy agreement with the tenant myself.

I phoned the agents regarding thier invoice and advised them that I had renewed the tenancy myself and now they are sending me bills on a Statutory Periodic basis as they say 'in principle the tenant is still thier client'.

Also the tenants have advised me that the agents contacted them after their original agreement had expired and sent them a new one to sign which they did not as they had signed a new agreement with me and are also charging them.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
