can lettings agent sign the AST on landlord's behalf
Just have a query in relation to having a lettings agent sign the AST on behalf of the landlord. We have two properties, one managed by a high street agent. This agency signs any ASTs on our behalf.
We have a second property that has recently been taken on by a lettings agency. The lettings agency has refused to sign on our behalf on the grounds that they require a power of attorney to do so. We have not given a PoA to the high street agent but have never had an objection from them about signing on our behalf.
We have a new tenant due to move in on Tuesday, but both landlords are on opposite sides of the world in separate places from each other (the timing is great!) so signing the document is not really feasible.
Does anyone have any experience of this? Or suggestions for how the AST should be worded so that the lettings agent can legally sign on our behalf?
Thanks in advance.
