Hi there, I have let a house to three foreign students, two of which held a party before Christmas. It is alledged that as the party finished one of the tenants friends drove his car over a sign onto the grass area in the center of the close, did a u-turn and drove off.
The sign was broken and the grass torn up by the tyres.
The head of the residents association has complained to me about this but of course when I questioned the students they insisted that they didnt know who did it. No-one seems to have any direct proof that it was anything to do with my tenants as no-one saw who did it.There are six other student houses in the close.
The head of the residents association seems to think that I should pay the 150 for the sign and re-coup the money from the students, but if they insist that they don't know who did it I cannot make them pay can I.Can anyone suggest what to do in this situation. Surely as all the tenants are over 18 they should be responsible for their own actions and they should be confronted by the residents association not me.
Any help would be appreciated.
