Local authority told my tenant to ignore me
Two weeks ago, I issued a Section 21 on a tenant who had lost his job and subsequently fallen into rent arrears (used S21 due to a more guaranteed success). He later called me up to say that he will vacate once he had spoken to the local authority about rehousing him.
To my horror, the tenant has just come back to me saying that he, under advice from the local authority, is going to stay put until such a time as a court order has been served. Obviously because they don't want the hassle of rehousing him.
This now means that I have to wait a further 6 weeks and then go through all the hassle and cost of court proceedings.
Has anyone else experienced a local authority telling their tenants to stay put? Why should I be made to suffer more?
