Evicted tenant now wants access to retrieve personal items
I have successfully evicted some tenants for non-payment of rent and they left without taking ANY of their possessions.
This was three weeks ago, and I can't let or sell the property without clearing out their stuff.
I've had the locks changed and one of the tenants has asked me to leave post for them somewhere for them to collect, which I have refused to do.
They have now contacted me and asked for access to pick up their post and collect some personal items.
I want to know what my legal position is with regards:
a) disposal of the items left behind (basically EVERYTHING they owned).
b) should I allow access for them to pick up 'a few things'?
c) if not, what legal reasons, if any, should I give?
They have not supplied me with any forwarding address and have refused to give me one, they owe me several thousand in unpaid rent, and I'm getting bailiffs letters for them almost every day!
Many thanks for any advice you can give.
