We had a tenant who has been claiming Housing allowance at one of our properties, she stopped paying the shortfall a while ago so we have sent numerous letters and text messages to her asking about the payments with out any response. She has now changed her number so we can not get in touch at all as we have now been informed by the local authority that she has changed her address for housing benefit and informed them that she has moved out of our property so we no longer recieve any payments, we sent a letter giving her notice that we would be entering the property on a certain date which we did to find that the house is still full of her belongings, the neighbours told us that she was ever only there for a few days every couple of weeks. How long do we have to hold on to the tenants belongings before we can dispose of them? We have no way of contacting her now so dont know what to do.
