CHECKS ON PROSPECTIVE TENANTS - WHAT ELSE SHOULD I CHECK?
These are the checks I intend to carry out - what else should I be doing?
- RLA credit check
- reference from personal referee
- reference from previous landlord (where applicable)
Should I get a reference from their employer? Why do the tenant's application forms ask for the tenant's bank details - banks aren't going to release any information, are they?
One tenant is self-employed, has a house that he is selling (so no landlord) and says that he HAS had an adverse credit history (but I don't know how long ago). He has given accountant's details - should I ask accountant if the guy is solvent? I guess I ought to ask him whether he has ever defaulted on his mortgage. Any thing else?
