I let out a flat to a tenant at the beginning of July on an Assured shorthold tenancy (6 months). He hasn't paid a penny in rent, ever. Neither has he paid any deposit. His 'boss' ( a respected hairdresser) gave him a reference.

He claims the bank have made an error (Santander): and they will be replenishing the money but that was a week ago. Now he says they are having problems getting the money back from where it was sent in error. I don't believe him but I want to keep him talking so as to get some money back before giving him notice. What d'you think and what is my position re getting him out? If the worst comes to the worst do I issue a Section 18 and give him eight weeks notice to quit? As he's paid nowt do I have a stronger case?

Thanks
S
