I have received an email suggesting that insurance companies are refusing to pay out due to the tenant not disclosing a minor fine such as dropping litter.

I am aware of a guardian newspaper article in which the reporter phones several large insurance companies for a buildings quotation disclosing the fact that they have in the past been fined for dropping litter. All the insurance companies refused cover.

This has resulted in a premium refund and no pay out, In one case for the sum of a rebuild 240k.Mind you it was partner arson. That must be it arson, hardly accidental is it.

Can this be true?
Do we have any experience here on the site of this ridiculous situation?
