Has anyone experience of using the Term Exchange Bond, mentioned in RLA:RPI May 2006? A couple of companies referred to as offering them, Exchange Insurance Company and Charcol. It's an alternative to handing over a deposit on an unbuilt property. You pay for it of course but the advantage is you don't have to find a hefty deposit. Developers apparently like it becasue it gives them a guaranteed sale. We are considering the bond for a new build in Sheffield - not scheduled for completion until 2009 - so as to free up capital for other projects.
