This is a fisrt investment for me, so appreciate any advice available!
I just completing on my first buy to let and need to get buildings insurance sorted out.
It is a leasehold flat, one of two in a converted house. The other leaseholder suggests that the freeholder doesn't get involved, and the vendor of my flat was going to sort out the insurance (and hasn't). I think it is ok for us as leaseholders to sort the insurance instead of the freeholder, as he would only recharge us anyway, is this the case?
Is it a problem if I get the insurance in my name and get the other leaseholder to share the cost or does it needs to be in both names jointly? The other leaseholder lives in his flat, but is happy to leave the admin up to someone else..
Sorry if these are dumb questions!
