Dunnwell Services LTD
Welcome to Dunnwell Services LTD, we are a family run business based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. We are located near the M1/M62 motorway junction which allows us to provide services to all of Yorkshire and the surrounding regions. The services we offer are delivered by trained and qualified staff supported by years of experience. The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing. The level of inspection and testing required is dependent upon the risk of the appliance becoming faulty, which is in turn dependent upon the type of appliance, the nature of its use and the environment in which it is used. This is being commonly referred to as a risk based approach to Portable Appliance Testing. This now means that rather than having everything tested annually there can be as little as 3 months to as long as 4 years between testing depending on the risk. This has allowed many customers to reduce their costs by not paying for unessacery testing. At Dunnwell Services LTD we can help you meet your legal obligations through our PAT testing service. Our PAT testing service includes an initial Risk Assessment to identify electrical items as Low, Medium or High Risk. •High Risk items would include appliances like kettles as they involve the use of water. •Medium Risk items would include appliances like fan heaters as they involve the use of a heating element. •Low Risk items would include equipment like PC monitors. The risk assessment also takes into account where the equipment is used for example equipment on a contruction site is at higher risk than equipment in an office purely because of its environment. All testing starts with a visual inspection, during a visual inspection we check for defects such as loose parts, damaged cables, the correct fuse is being used, the plug is of the required standard, etc.. and where appropriate we will replace damaged leads IEC leads, unsuitable plugs and fuses whilst on site during the testing. We then carry out a range of Portable Appliance Tests including •Class I & Class II Equipment •Business & IT Equipment •Extentions & IEC Leads •110v/230v Equipment •Mains Power Outlets Once a test is complete we will label the appliance, log the test and remind you when the next test is due.
