HMO Licence Training Course - Sheffield
Michelle Slater, Service Manager for Private Housing Standards in Sheffield City Council, is pleased that we have entered into a training relationship with the Residential Landlords Association. The first course for landlords ran on April 2013, with a satisfaction averaging 5.3 out of 6, and the September course had even higher ratings of 5.5 out of 6, feedback for the November course appears to show the course was delivered to the same high standard. Our staff have also completed the same training package. This training provides really good quality training at a very reasonable cost.
The Council thinks it is important that Licence Holders and Managers have been effectively trained. As part of the Councils licence conditions there is a training requirement for landlords who have not received training since 2005, which is immediately prior to the implementation of the Housing Act 2004. This training will also be required where a landlord is seen to be ignoring any previous training they have received. Where training is required it will be specified on the Licence conditions sent out to landlords
Working in partnership with the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) the Council has developed training to satisfy licence conditions. The RLA offers a professional development course for landlords, which satisfies Sheffield HMO Licence training conditions but is also available for landlords who want to improve their knowledge in this area. This course is commissioned by Sheffield City Council and is the preferred training course to satisfy licence training conditions. This is because it is delivered by a landlord and allows networking between landlords, managers and agents as part of the training. It is also extremely competitively priced, and is updated as new information becomes available so is always relevant.
