Are you a landlord that has void properties, perhaps during the summer? Perhaps you are a letting agent that has responsibilities for the maintenance of properties? Maybe you are looking at simply enhancing your knowledge on the key principles of Legionella bacteria and Legionella Control within domestic properties?
If you fall into any of these groups then this is the course for you!
It is designed for you to carry out Legionella assessments on properties you own. It is not intended for any commercial operation of any type.
Recent changes to industry guidance has put an emphasis on landlords to ensure that a suitable and sufficient risk assessment is in place on all rented properties with regards to Legionella bacteria.
Hot and Cold water systems within these properties, particularly when vacant, have the potential to house millions of bacteria that could cause ill health in humans and inadequate control of these systems could see both landlords and letting agents open to the potential for civil claims by tenants.
This course cuts through the often complicated legal responsibilities and takes you through the fundamentals of both the requirements of completing a suitable risk assessment and creating a list of suitable control measures for a domestic property.
The course also aims to clear up any grey areas over what landlord's and letting agent's obligations and responsibilities are with respect to Legionella control.
To ensure that you meet your legal requirements let this course put you on the correct path to being a compliant landlord!
This Accredited Legionella Control for Property Management course is ideal for landlords and letting agents alike. The course aims to fully equip people with the necessary skills and competence to understand their legal requirements and duties, with respect to Legionella Control.
It also focuses on the appreciation of risk posed by Legionella within domestic water systems and how to successfully identify, risk assess and control them.
The 1-day programme is designed to give delegates a thorough insight into their legal obligations regarding the Legionella control of these systems and through a combination of tutor instruction and practical exercises, delegates will develop key skills in:
- Identifying the potential for Legionella bacteria to proliferate within their water systems
- Issues associated with different styles of Hot and Cold Water Systems
- The assessment of risk within the building and the requirements of a Legionella Risk Assessment
- Ensuring the competency of work being carried out by external groups such as maintenance professionals and property management companies
A brief written assessment and practical will ensure that participants leave the course with the ability to control their Hot and Cold Water System effectively. A suitable passed mark is required in both in order to gain the IOSH Accredited Certificate.
